One of Dolly Parton’s last projects before she died was a campaign for Cup of Ambition, the music legend’s coffee
brand that she says was a “dream… more than 40 years in the making.”
A partnership with Community Coffee, one of the largest family-owned coffee brands in the U.S. today, Parton’s Cup of Ambition line is out today, with a light, medium, and dark roast available at retailers like Amazon and Walmart.
Community Coffee says Parton filmed three commercial spots for Cup of Ambition in July. The first clip, released today (Sept. 29), is set to the singer’s hit song, “9 to 5,” and shows the country star in high spirits as she pours herself a cup of coffee before seemingly getting ready for a show.
Dressed in a sequin-decorated pink top with her trademark blond hair done up, Parton is seen strumming her guitar and fixing her makeup in front of a mirror backstage, while an animated version of the singer stares back at her. Though Parton doesn’t utter any lines in the clip, she appears as jovial as ever, at one point delivering a cheeky grin to the camera.
In addition to the commercial, Parton is also seen in new photos alongside Donna Saurage, Community Coffee’s third-generation owner, who says the two bonded over female entrepreneurship and a “shared appreciation for quality coffee, family and community.”
“Dolly had a warmth that made you feel like you’d known her forever,” Saurage says. “We connected over our love of family, serving our communities, and bringing people together, and it was a true joy to help make her dream of a Cup of Ambition coffee become a reality.”
Parton’s Cup of Ambition coffee is now available to purchase online as ground coffee, with K-cup pods set to debut soon. Each bag of coffee features Southern-inspired packaging with Dolly’s face front and center. The name of the coffee brand is inspired by the famous opening line of “9 to 5”: “Tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen / Pour myself a cup of ambition.”

Cup of Ambition coffee first debuted at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, the singer’s truck stop located off the I-65 in Cornersville, Tennessee.
“I thought Cup of Ambition would be a fantastic name for a coffee brand, and I’ve been working towards this for over 40 years,” shared the singer when she visited the travel center in June. “This is just one of those dreams that’s taken a little longer than I thought it might, but we’ve got it and it’s working. I can’t wait for you to try it.”
A percentage of proceeds from Cup of Ambition coffee sales will go towards supporting Parton’s Imagination Library and its mission to inspire early childhood literacy.
Parton died on Aug. 25 following a brief battle with cancer. She was 80.
