Soundboks party speakers are among our favorites for their
rugged design and great sound, and the Danish audio brand is dropping a new, more portable model. The Rider boasts the same durable design as its larger speakers, but packed into a smaller, 14-pound package. It’s available now for $599.
While most party speakers pack features like flashy LED lights, Soundboks keeps it simple — the design is basic, but it prioritizes durability and portability. The speaker has an IP66 rating, protecting it against water and dust, and each corner has a rubberized bumper that protects it and your floors from damage.

It’s also convenient to carry around; there are grab handles throughout, and you can also attach a carrying strap (which is sold separately). You can also remove the battery to charge it, and the brand says it lasts up to 35 hours at moderate volumes. And if you have more than one Soundboks speaker, you can swap the same batteries between the speakers.
Where Soundboks speakers shine is the sound quality, with deep rumbling bass that suits any party playlist. The speaker gets plenty loud, too, topping out at 118 dB. The speaker is powered by a 1.2-inch tweeter and a substantial 8-inch woofer You can also adjust the EQ in the Soundboks app, with easy presets including Bass+, Indoor, and Outdoor, or you can create your own custom profiles. The speaker easily connects with Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm input is available for wired listening.
