Beyoncé delivered some fireworks on the Fourth of July as the singer surprise released a new track titled “Morning Dew (Donk),” her first new song in two years.
According to a press release, the song is “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate
the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day“; the “Morning Dew (Donk)” release marks the official start of a 60-day countdown to the 20th anniversary of Beyoncé’s second album B’Day, released September 4, 2006. (September 4th also happens to be Beyoncé’s actual birthday.)
“Morning Dew (Donk),” which was reportedly initially slated for that 2006 LP, was co-written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Williams. The song was paired with a lyric video that reuses two-decade-old footage shot by collaborator Cliff Watts, who also photographed Beyoncé’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover.
The song will appear on an upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of B’Day, arriving September 4, 2026, the 20th anniversary of the original LP. No other details about the reissue were revealed.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” marks Beyoncé’s first new music since she released her Cowboy Carter in March 2024; the third installment in a reported trilogy that also includes 2022’s Renaissance has not yet been announced.
