The U.S. penny is no longer, but coin collectors and history buffs alike have one last chance to get their hands
on the one-cent coin, through a special-edition release that is sure to become a treasured keepsake.
Amazon is selling original rolls of the U.S. penny from its final release in 2025, in a limited-edition, red, white and blue packaging. The words “End of an Era” are printed on each wrapper, along with a Lincoln shield, which began appearing on the penny from 2010 until the coin was discontinued by the U.S. Mint last year. (Also known as the “Lincoln cent,” due to the former President’s face on the coin, the production of the penny was suspended in 2025 by the Treasury Department, though the coin is still in circulation and considered legal tender).

Each set on Amazon includes two rolls: one from the Philadelphia Mint and one from the Denver Mint, the two primary production facilities for coins in the U.S. There are 50, one-cent coins per roll in their original, uncirculated condition.
Amazon says the rolls “come directly from the U.S. Mint distribution stream” and are shipped in their “original, unopened, and unsearched condition.” The pennies from the Philadelphia Mint bear a subtle “P” letter engraving, while the Denver Mint coins are produced with the little “D.”
The penny rolls have soared to the top of Amazon’s collectibles chart, with the site reporting hundreds of purchases in the last few weeks alone. They are also a bestseller at Walmart.
An officially-licensed release from the U.S. Mint, this set makes a great gift idea for coin collectors, along with people looking for USA memorabilia.

Once the penny stacks are gone, they will be gone for good, so collectors are no doubt hoping for the value to go up in the years to come. The release also comes on the heels of a host of America 250 merch, which celebrated the country’s milestone birthday in July.
The U.S. one-cent coin was first introduced in 1793 and became the longest-running denomination in American coinage history. President Trump announced plans to end penny production in February 2025, citingrising manufacturing costs, and the last run was produced in May.
