New Macklemore merch has dropped online, with fans and creators showing support for the rapper in the light of
his removal from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour.
Macklemore made news earlier this week after he revealed that he was dropped from Sheeran’s tour as an opening act for saying “Free Palestine” during a show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Macklemore blamed New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who allegedly told Sheeran that he would prevent the rapper from performing at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium, and would encourage other stadium owners to do the same. While Sheeran placed the blame for the decision on the tour organizers, all the other opening acts on the tour dropped out in solidarity with Macklemore.
Now, fans are also rallying behind the “Same Love” rapper with new merch popping up on sites like Etsy and Amazon, showcasing images of the artist alongside the “Free Palestine” slogan and other politically-minded motifs.

Macklemore Palestine Freedom Graphic T Shirt
Amazon has this fan-made T-shirt, with a colorful graphic depicting the rapper alongside the Palestinian flag and the word “freedom” in bold, block letters.

Free Palestine Macklemore Shirt
From an Etsy creator based in Germany, this T-shirt features an illustration of the singer in front of a Palestinian flag, and posters with slogans promoting peace. The words “Free Palestine” and a dove (a universal symbol of peace) sit at the top of the graphic print.
As the Etsy seller says on her page, “We stand with Macklemore and the people of Palestine. Their voices deserve to be heard, their humanity deserves to be respected, and their freedom deserves to be defended.”

There is seemingly some positive news to come out of this whole situation: After Macklemore challenged Kraft to match his $1 million donation to organizations supporting Palestinians, the Patriots owner responded by committing $2 million to “aid in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis.”
