If you were anywhere near a DVD player in the early 2000s, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with P90X. Created
by Tony Horton in 2005, P90X (short for Power 90 Extreme) became one of the biggest workout programs of all time for a very simple reason: It worked. The program, which incorporated high-intensity exercises along with a nutrition and dietary supplement plan, helped thousands of people shred fat and gain muscle.
Today, P90X has matured alongside its rebranded parent company, BODi(formerly Beachbody On-Demand). BODi now offers two different versions of P90X: the original program and the evolved P90X Generation Next program. The goal of both programs is the same: “Get lean, strong, and in the best shape of your life,” per the company’s website.
Each program comprises multiple types of workouts, designed to be cycled through over a 90-day period. P90X Generation Next, however, utilizes shorter workouts that incorporate more mobility, HIIT-style cardio, and modern athletic conditioning. Both programs also require minimal space or equipment; you’ll just need things like dumbbells, a foam roller, and/or a chair, with some variation depending on the program.
BODi has also (unsurprisingly) changed the way P90X is delivered, ditching the DVD format for a modern subscription model. The great news? BODi subscriptions include access to more than 225 workout programs, plus meal plans and engagement with the BODi community. You can pay monthly at $19 or opt for the annual plan at $179.
