Rubber Soul, the Beatles’ most playful and experimental album,
is about to sound better than ever.
Today, Apple Corps Ltd and UMG announced the Rubber Soul Super Deluxe Edition. The special release will include improved and unreleased recordings for a total of 68 songs spread out over either four CDs or five vinyl LPs. The meticulously constructed package also includes an 88-page hardcover book that features a John Lennon foreword, an introduction by Paul McCartney, photos, an in-depth album background, and track notes.
The Rubber Soul Super Deluxe Edition is available for pre-order on Amazon now in vinyl or CD format ahead of its Oct. 2 release date. The vinyl version costs $229.98, and the CD format costs $149.98.

Rubber Soul was the Beatles’ sixth studio album, and it saw the band getting more experimental as they grew up (and faced a tight deadline). “It’s an album born out of frustration of not wanting to be little boys anymore,” Giles Martin, son of the Beatles’ producer George, tells Rolling Stone. “It has so much depth to it. This is the first album where they weren’t trying to write a bunch of singles and deciding what should be the single.”
The new box set delivers all 14 original tracks in stereo, mono, and Dolby Atmos formats. Martin and engineer Sam Okell also used the “de-mixing” audio technology developed for Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary to significantly improve the recording quality without losing any of its original character.
The Rubber Soul Super Deluxe Edition follows a series of other Special Editions that Apple Corps Ltd and UMG have released over the last several years, including Sgt. Pepper in 2017, the White Album in 2018, Abbey Road in 2019, Let It Be in 2021, Revolver in 2022, and Anthology in 2025.
