The cursed island town in Widow’s Bay has summoned all kinds of supernatural entities, much to the dismay of its residents. Now, it has lured an Emmy Award into its grasp, too. The Apple TV series has been awarded Outstanding Comedy Series at the 2026

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey presented the award, after riffing about if they may or may not be half-brothers. In accepting the Emmy, series creator Katie Dippold thanked “the evil entity on the island that trusted us with its story.”
Widow’s Bay faced off against a stacked set of nominees, including Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Hacks. The series earned additional nominations including Matthew Rhys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while Dale Dickey and Kate O’Flynn were both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. All three won their respective categories.
Apple TV renewed Widow’s Bay for Season Two in June, just ahead of the Season One finale. “From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew and the entire team have created,” said Apple TV head of programming Matt Cherniss. “It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”
Dippold — creator, showrunner, and executive producer for the series — added, “Season Two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”
