Benedict Arnold, a figure whose name became synonymous with betrayal in American history, began his military career as a general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. His actions at the Battle of Ridgefield, Connecticut, earned him a promotion to major general. Despite these successes, Arnold felt consistently undervalued and overlooked.
