One of the most distinctive environmental adaptations of the Lusail International Circuit is the use of artificial grass. Pioneering Night Racing
A groundbreaking feature of the Lusail International Circuit is its advanced lighting system, which enables night racing. This state-of-the-art illumination allows events to be held after sunset, offering a unique spectacle for both competitors and spectators. The 2008 Qatar motorcycle Grand Prix made history as the first MotoGP race ever to be held at night, showcasing the circuit's capabilities and setting a new precedent for motorsport events.
At the time of its installation, the lighting system at Lusail Circuit, provided by Musco Lighting, was recognized as the largest permanent venue sports lighting project in the world. Capacity and Upgrades
Initially, the circuit had a capacity of 8,000 spectators. However, in preparation for the second edition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the circuit underwent significant renovations and upgrades. These improvements substantially increased its capacity to 52,000, allowing a much larger audience to experience the thrill of live motorsport. These enhancements also included general facility upgrades, ensuring that the Lusail International Circuit continues to meet the high standards required for hosting world-class racing competitions.
