The inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was held on December 5, 2021, just two days after the circuit's official opening. Initially, from 2022 to 2024, the Formula One race was scheduled in March, typically the weekend before Ramadan. Starting in 2025, the race shifted to April, occurring after Ramadan, indicating an adaptation to regional calendars and customs.
Beyond Formula One, the circuit expanded its portfolio to include the Formula E Jeddah ePrix, which began in 2025. The Formula One track measures 6.174 kilometers (3.836 miles) in length, making it the third-longest circuit on the Formula One calendar, surpassed only by Spa-Francorchamps and Las Vegas. It is also recognized as the fastest street course, with a record average speed of 254.6 km/h (158.2 mph) recorded for the 2025 pole position. The track features 27 turns and incorporates three consecutive DRS (Drag Reduction System) zones, designed to promote overtaking opportunities.
For other events, the circuit offers flexibility in its configuration. For instance, a shorter 3.450 km (2.144 mi) layout was used for the 2022 World Touring Car Cup.
