The contentious inheritance dispute involving the late Sona Comstar leader Sunjay Kapur continues to unfold. In a recent development that has taken a notably
hostile turn, reports indicate that actor Karisma Kapoor’s offspring have initiated criminal proceedings, claiming that the will at the heart of the conflict is a blatant and intentional forgery. According to sources cited by Times Now, Karisma Kapoor’s children have approached the court asserting that the contested will is fraught with significant procedural flaws and was never legitimately executed in Gurugram, contrary to what is recorded officially. Additional claims suggest that witnesses have verified that the will was not signed in Gurugram, casting serious doubt on its legitimacy.
The children have allegedly informed the court that the will is a “clear forgery,” maintaining that it does not satisfy fundamental legal standards under succession law. They have also requested the court to confiscate the mobile devices of Priya Kapur and Sunjay Kapur, asserting that digital evidence could clarify how and where the will was created and executed.
Legal analyst Abha Singh, in conversation with the publication, outlined the legal options available in such scenarios, stating, “There exists a legal provision to contest the will. That is precisely what Karisma is pursuing.” She emphasized that the onus now rests on the supporters of the will to demonstrate its legitimacy in a court setting.
Insiders familiar with the case stress that any will must undergo rigorous legal examination, including signature verification, witness accounts, and the location of its execution. Until this process is completed, the document remains subject to challenge.
As the legal dispute over the Sunjay Kapur will intensifies, further shocking disclosures are anticipated in the near future, with the court poised to scrutinize allegations of forgery, witness statements, and purported irregularities.
What initially started as a dispute over inheritance has now escalated into a high-stakes legal confrontation, with criminal accusations introducing a new and serious layer to the ongoing narrative.
The Sunjay Kapur Case
Sunjay Kapur, the former spouse of actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12, 2025, reportedly due to a heart attack while playing polo in England. He left an estate valued at approximately Rs 30,000 crore, which includes significant shares in Sona Comstar and various other business ventures.
Shortly after his passing, a prominent inheritance conflict erupted, involving multiple family members - his third wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, his children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, his mother Rani Kapur, and his sister. Central to the legal dispute is a will dated March 21, 2025, which purportedly allocates the majority, if not all, of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets to his third wife, Priya Kapur. However, his children have contested this will in the Delhi High Court, alleging it is forged and fabricated.
The will is enveloped in numerous unresolved questions - who authored it, when Sunjay Kapur first encountered or reviewed it, what modifications he may have proposed, who implemented those changes, and whether the document was truly finalized with his awareness and consent. These inquiries have become the focal point of a fierce legal struggle over Sunjay Kapur’s extensive estate.
