What is the story about?
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed a number of important updates to its voting and eligibility criteria for the forthcoming 98th
Academy Awards. The esteemed awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live on Sunday, March 15, 2026, via ABC. Previously, the official Academy account took to social media to share the news, stating, "Save the date! The 98th Oscars will occur on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Nominations will be unveiled on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Follow the link in our bio for additional key dates, guidelines, and promotional campaign rules for the 2025 awards season." In advance of the Academy Awards, Amanda Seyfried has made a startling remark that has taken the internet by storm.
Winning An Oscar Is NOT Important For Amanda Seyfried
The actress recently expressed to The New Yorker that receiving an Oscar holds little significance for her. She questioned the necessity of such an accolade when she has 'achieved so much' without one. "Can you recall who won in the last decade? It’s not the victory that matters. It’s the nomination," she remarked.
Additionally, Amanda stated, "It does propel you forward. That’s a reality. Now, do I require one in a week or two or whenever? No, certainly not. Would it be wonderful? Absolutely, for every reason. But it’s not essential. Sustaining an acting career is intentional. Longevity is about making thoughtful choices to create art alongside the major commercial projects that are enjoyable and financially rewarding."
"We all experience ups and downs in our careers, and public perception can shift daily, but I remain steadfast in my decisions and my principles and my requirements. I’m also in a good position right now, because The Housemaid was profitable. That’s not always the case. Sometimes you find yourself in Mamma Mia! Other times, you take part in projects like Ted 2, or A Million Ways to Die in the West, which were both expected to perform well at the box office but didn’t," she concluded.
Professional Front
For those who may not know, the actress received a nomination for best supporting actress in 2021 for her role in Mank. Her performance in December’s The Testament of Ann Lee garnered her a best actress nomination at both the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice, potentially hinting at an upcoming nomination from the Academy.
