Yami Gautam feels immense pride for her filmmaker spouse Aditya Dhar, who has produced Dhurandhar, the most significant films of 2025. She mentions that
filmmaking can be quite demanding, requiring the coordination of various departments, stating, "I've never witnessed him lose his composure." The Haq actress notes that as a couple, they are both quite private, often discussing ghar ka khana and their TV choices after returning home from work. Yami first encountered Aditya while working on the National Award-winning film Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), where she starred alongside Vicky Kaushal. She reveals that it was during the promotional events that she recognized their compatibility, leading to the blossoming of their romance.
Yami and Aditya favor home life over Bollywood events
In a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Yami opened up about her life with Aditya and how they maintain authenticity despite their fame. "I met Aditya on the set of our film Uri, but it wasn’t the cameras or scripts that drew us together – it was the serene moments in between that made me realize our frequencies were perfectly aligned. We are both private individuals, simple at heart, who prefer the comfort of home to attending parties, opting for cooking or watching shows instead of pursuing the world’s notion of a ‘celebrity lifestyle,’" Yami shared.
Reflecting on their private wedding in Himachal Pradesh
Yami and Aditya delighted fans by marrying in a secluded ceremony in 2021, set against the stunning backdrop of her home state, Himachal Pradesh. With no media or celebrity distractions, they exchanged vows surrounded by their families. Looking back, Yami reminisced, "We wed in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, beneath the grand Deodar trees. I donned my mother’s wedding saree, my grandmother’s Raida, and the traditional Pahadi nath gifted by my family. I did my own makeup, my sister styled my hair, and in that simplicity, enveloped by love, I felt incredibly blessed.
Aditya's thoughtful gestures
Yami and Aditya maintain a clear separation between their professional lives while honoring each other's personal space. She mentions that the small, thoughtful actions her husband takes amidst his filmmaking endeavors are what fortify their marriage.
"Aditya has consistently revealed his true self through small, remarkable gestures. A pillow brought to me during my third trimester for comfort, offering his director’s chair to a makeup artist without a seat, or preparing Rogan Josh for my family the first time. There was no extravagant proposal, no cinematic moment. We simply… knew. And our families were aware too. That, for me, has always been the essence of love – the harmony of hearts and families," Yami expressed.
"Our love represents a union of families. My parents felt secure with him, and his family felt comfortable with me. Even in our professional lives, we uphold boundaries, trusting and respecting each other’s space. Motherhood transformed me in ways I never anticipated. It’s empowering, humbling, and filled with joy," Yami added.
On the experience of motherhood
The 37-year-old actress shared that while motherhood has changed her, it has also unveiled a new aspect of herself. Yami and Aditya welcomed a son, their first child, in 2024. She credits Aditya for his unwavering support. "With Aditya by my side, our love feels steady, calm, and genuine. There’s no need for noise or showiness. Just tranquility, growth, and the quiet assurance that this is precisely where we’re meant to be," she stated. "Aditya is like a lush green forest!" Yami proclaimed.
