He desires Atlee, who directed him in Jawan, to lead the project. Amidst all the speculation, a source close to the production has confirmed that the director is not involved with the film.

The source informed Hindustan Times, "The speculation regarding Atlee being brought on for Don 3 is entirely false. Atlee has never been contacted for the film and has no connection to the franchise."
There was considerable discussion regarding Singh's departure as well. An insider familiar with the situation disclosed that Ranveer Singh didn’t leave Don 3 due to scheduling conflicts but rather due to creative disagreements with the producers. A source close to the situation dismissed the claims about Ranveer exiting Don 3 over scheduling issues, stating, "Ranveer Singh hasn’t exited Don 3 as the rumors suggest. The reality is quite different. His departure was due to creative differences with the producers. Initially, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar offered him Don 3 after he had faced three significant flops. They supported him even after Sanjay Leela Bhansali canceled Baiju Bawra because he was deemed unmarketable at that time."
