Vir Das reflects on first discussion with Aamir Khan regarding the film
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Vir Das shared, "He is on such a high pedestal that communication is limited. I hadn’t spoken to Aamir Sir in nearly a decade. Then I reached out to him with a message, 'Aamir sir, may I call you?' He responded, 'Yes, call now.' When he answered, it felt like we were in regular contact. I told him, 'Sir, I have a project I want you to direct. If you don’t take it on, no one else will.' He replied, 'Sure, come next week for the narration.' I’ve never encountered a superstar so willing to meet so promptly. I presented the narration, and after that, there were nine additional narrations. His primary focus is always the script. After those nine narrations, he said, 'Take some funds and film five scenes.' I conducted the test shoot, and then he instructed, 'Go on floors.'

Then I messaged him saying, ‘Aamir sir, can I call you?’ He replied, ‘Yes, call now.’ And when he picked up, it felt like we speak every week. So I told him, ‘Sir, I have a film with me and I want you to make it. If you don’t make it, no one else will.’ He said, ‘Okay, come next week and give me the narration.’ I have never seen a superstar who is so accessible and gives you a meeting so quickly. I gave him the narration, and after that there were nine more narrations. His main concern is always the script. After nine narrations, he said, ‘Take some money and shoot five scenes.’ I did the test shoot, and then he said, ‘Go on floors.’”)
He continued, 'We didn’t see him for five months, and then he returned as an actor. After the third cut, he said, 'start screening.' I have never witnessed anything like this. It is truly remarkable and educational."
