Rashmika Mandanna has been enjoying a wave of success following the release of major hits such as Chhaava, The Girlfriend, Thamma, and others in 2025.
Nevertheless, one film that left both Rashmika and Salman Khan feeling disheartened was Sikandar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, this film ended up being a box office failure. In a recent interview, Rashmika Mandanna made a surprising disclosure regarding Sikandar, explaining the primary cause of the Salman Khan-led film's downfall. For those who may not know, Rashmika Mandanna starred alongside Salman Khan in Sikandar. Released during Eid 2025, the film failed to recoup its production costs.
Rashmika Mandanna on Sikandar's failure
During an interaction with a Telugu journalist, Prema, Rashmika Mandanna explained why Sikandar failed miserably at the box office. She mentioned that the screenplay was entirely different from what she had been presented during the film's narration.
Rashmika Mandanna remarked, “Sikandar, I recall discussing with Murugadoss sir; however, what transpired later was quite different. But when I first heard the script, it was indeed a different narrative.”
The Girlfriend actress further noted, “This is often the case with films. When you hear a story, it is one version, but as the film progresses, changes occur based on performances, edits, and the timing of the release. Changes are quite common, and that was the case with Sikandar.”
Sikandar was reportedly produced with a budget of Rs 200 crore, but according to a Sacnilk report, the Salman Khan film only managed to earn Rs 185 crore globally.
