Priyanka Chopra Jonas reflected on her 2009 iconic film Kaminey, describing it as a pivotal moment in her professional journey. In a touching Instagram
update, the actress reminisced about how director Vishal Bhardwaj reached out to her for the part of Sweety Bhope, even though she was known for her 'commercial' and glamorous persona at that time.
Priyanka recalls her Kaminey audition experience
During that period, Priyanka was filming Dostana in Miami alongside Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham when she noticed a missed call from Bhardwaj. "What?? I had always wanted to collaborate with him and never imagined he would consider me due to my ‘commercial’ reputation back then," she shared.
The director traveled to Miami to present the story to her. Priyanka remembered saying to him, “Well, she has about 8 scenes.” Bhardwaj reassured her, “With our collaboration, it will become so much more. Trust me.” She consented, admitting she was 'just eager' to work with the renowned director. Vishal, in return, promised to create something extraordinary for her afterward as a token of gratitude for taking on the role, and a few years later, they teamed up for 7 Khoon Maaf.

Referring to Kaminey as a significant achievement in her career, Priyanka expressed, "I gained so much knowledge from the master @vishalrbhardwaj, learning how to research, prepare, and then fully embrace the role." She also commended Shahid Kapoor’s dual role performance, Amol Gupte’s menacing antagonist, and fondly recalled her first meeting with close friend Mubina Rattonsey on set.
Sharing nostalgic images, clips, and the film’s poster, she inquired if fans had revisited the beloved classic.
