What is the story about?
Kartik Aaryan is currently enjoying a wave of success with a series of consecutive hits at the box office. On Christmas 2025, Kartik is set to release
his next romantic comedy, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. In a recent discussion, the star of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 shared his thoughts on the insider-outsider controversy in Bollywood. It’s worth noting that Kartik is a true outsider who spent 7 years working his way up to become a prominent figure in Bollywood. He has faith in both fate and diligence. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that outsiders face unique challenges within the industry. He believes the insider-outsider conversation is significant in Bollywood.
Kartik Aaryan On the Insider-Outsider Discussion in Bollywood
Bollywood is notorious for nepotism, as numerous star children frequently face criticism for being insiders in the field. Kartik has also encountered numerous obstacles throughout his career. He made his Bollywood debut in 2011 with Pyaar Ka Punchnama. However, it took him 7 years to achieve success with the blockbuster Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
Kartik Aaryan believes that the insider-outsider discussion is crucial in the industry, as it helps people recognize and comprehend the challenges faced by outsiders. In an interview with Filmfare, he stated, “If this discussion didn’t exist, people wouldn’t grasp the hardships of outsiders.”
Kartik also mentioned that star kids get money, work and success instantly, but the outsiders always have to compromise with everything that they do until they reach a certain level in their careers. The Love Aaj Kal actor remarked, “When a prominent director introduces someone, they start from a significantly higher position. Outsiders lack financial resources, perception, or access.”
In the early stages of his career, Kartik Aaryan appeared in several films that did not perform well at the box office. He admitted that he took those roles out of necessity. Therefore, he wouldn’t change his past. Kartik expressed that he enjoyed working on all his films. However, he also revealed that the failure of his favorite film, Akaash Vani, was disheartening. He mentioned, “It crushed my opportunities at that moment.”
Following the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan moved forward and solidified his status in Bollywood as one of the most sought-after leading men. After SKTKS, he starred in movies like Luka Chuppi, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and more.
Kartik Aaryan believes that a single film can either elevate or ruin an actor's career. He stated, “One film can make or break you.” The actor also emphasized that talent is more important than connections. During his challenging times, Kartik faced numerous rejections. He often returned home in tears. He shared, “I’ve witnessed people come from outside and leave because it just didn’t work out for them.”
Kartik Aaryan also highlighted that despite the remarkable achievements of outsiders in the industry, disparities still persist in showbiz. He feels fortunate to be in a position where he can select his projects after giving his all in previous films.
We must say, Kartik Aaryan is following the path of Shah Rukh Khan, who rose to prominence in Bollywood without any support.
