The film's opening day collections astonished many, as it not only outperformed the Indian box office figures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame," but also surpassed the earnings of popular Hindi films like Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan" and Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar." With a remarkable net collection of ₹60.60 crore, "Brand New Day" has set a new record as the biggest Hollywood opener in India. The film's impressive debut has rewritten box office history, eclipsing the previous record held by "Avengers: Endgame," which garnered ₹53.60 crore on its opening day in 2019. Following that, subsequent Marvel releases struggled to achieve similar success until "Brand New Day" emerged, dethroning its predecessor. As the weekend approaches, industry experts anticipate that the film's collections will continue to rise, further solidifying its position in the box office rankings. Interestingly, Holland's success in India places him in direct competition with Bollywood heavyweights Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh. "Pathaan," one of Khan's highest-grossing films, opened with ₹57 crore, while Singh's "Dhurandhar" collected ₹28 crore on its first day. However, both actors still hold the top spots for their respective films, with Khan's "Jawan" earning ₹75 crore and Singh's "Dhurandhar: The Revenge" achieving an impressive ₹102.55 crore on their opening days. Additionally, "Brand New Day" outperformed Allu Arjun's "Pushpa: The Rise," which had a collection of ₹45.45 crore. According to data from the trade website Sacnilk, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has shown strong performance in Hindi, achieving a high occupancy rate. The English version of the film collected ₹32.25 crore with a 55% occupancy, while the Hindi version brought in ₹22 crore at an impressive 95% occupancy. However, the film's performance in South Indian languages was less robust, with collections of ₹3.25 crore in Telugu, ₹3 crore in Tamil, ₹7 lakh in Malayalam, and ₹3 lakh in Kannada. This film marks the 38th entry in the MCU and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It features Tom Holland as Peter Parker, alongside a talented cast that includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei, and Mark Ruffalo.
