What is the story about?

Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated action thriller King has encountered an unforeseen setback after the leading star sustained a serious shoulder injury
during the filming of a demanding action scene. Helmed by Pathaan director Siddharth Anand, the film's release has now been postponed, with early 2027 set as the new target date.
Shah Rukh Khan's injury postpones King
The project, which commenced filming in June, had generated excitement among fans eager to see SRK return to theaters following Dunki (2023). Originally planned for a spectacular October 2026 premiere, the producers were aiming for a Gandhi Jayanti weekend release. However, the injury has thrown a wrench into the shooting schedule. A source close to the production informed Mid-Day, “King’s crew has paused the filming. Shah Rukh requires several weeks of rest before he can return to the set. Given the film's action-oriented nature, the team is prioritizing his health.”
This film is particularly meaningful as it represents Shah Rukh Khan’s first on-screen partnership with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The initial shooting schedule in Mumbai was successfully completed, with plans for an international segment next. Nevertheless, the insider disclosed that the production team is now reassessing the timeline. “Previously, King was targeted for a Gandhi Jayanti 2026 release. That is no longer feasible; it may be delayed by several months to aim for an early 2027 launch,” the source added.
