Kingdom faces protests in Tamil Nadu
On August 6, news of protests against Kingdom emerged after it was observed that certain elements of the film had incited anger among a segment of the audience. The primary opposition came from Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) members, who criticized the creators for offending Tamil sentiments. They asserted that Kingdom portrays Sri Lankan Tamils as "antagonists." Furthermore, they labeled it as insensitive, claiming it tarnished the identity and history of Tamilians. NTK is currently mobilizing across the state to conduct protests outside various cinemas, demanding a prohibition on Kingdom's exhibition in Tamil Nadu. At several locations, protests have reportedly escalated into violence, necessitating police intervention.
