Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri have addressed the social media backlash following a promotional video for their upcoming Netflix film, "Maa Behen." The
video, which features influencer-actor Dharna Durga, sparked claims that she was being sidelined during the promotional activities. In response, both actors emphasized that the online reactions were exaggerated and clarified that there was no intention to overlook anyone during the promotions.
The promotional clip from a recent press interaction for "Maa Behen" went viral, igniting discussions among viewers who felt that Madhuri and Triptii were not giving Dharna enough attention. While some perceived the exchange as routine, others interpreted it as a slight, leading to a flurry of comments, memes, and threads analyzing the actors' behavior towards Dharna.
In an interview with India Today, Madhuri and Triptii remarked that such controversies are common as a film approaches its release. They noted that social media often amplifies ordinary moments, transforming them into contentious debates. Triptii Dimri specifically rejected any notions of disrespect towards Dharna, expressing the anxiety actors face during promotional periods. She stated, "Whenever I have a film nowadays, I am scared of being happy. I ask myself, what will they pick this time?"
Triptii further explained that she anticipates increased scrutiny during promotions, including for "Maa Behen." She pointed out that harmless interactions can be misinterpreted when edited into short clips and widely shared. This incident, she believes, reflects a broader trend where audiences seek hidden drama even in simple press events or light-hearted conversations.
Amidst the online debate, Madhuri Dixit is focused on the upcoming release of "Maa Behen," a comedy-thriller directed by Suresh Triveni. The film features Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga alongside Madhuri, with Ravi Kishan playing a significant role. The story revolves around Madhuri's character, a single mother, and her daughters as they navigate a darkly comedic situation following a man's death at home. "Maa Behen" is set to premiere on Netflix on June 4.
