Fraud allegations against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra
However, this romantic post emerges at a time when Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are facing serious legal troubles. The couple is currently being investigated in a Rs 60 crore fraud and cheating case by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The complaint was lodged by businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, who has accused the couple of misappropriating funds under the guise of business expansion and allegedly using the money for personal expenses.
In response to the allegations, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have issued a strong statement refuting any misconduct. The statement asserted, “We categorically deny the unfounded and motivated claims being circulated. The issues being raised are being given a criminal interpretation without any legal basis. A Quashing Petition has already been submitted to the Hon’ble High Court and is awaiting adjudication.” Stressing their cooperation with the authorities, the couple added, “Having fully cooperated with the investigation, we are confident that justice will prevail and have complete faith in the law enforcement agencies and the Indian judiciary. We respectfully request the media to exercise caution as the matter is sub judice.”
As the investigation progresses, a Look Out Circular (LOC) has reportedly been issued against the couple to limit international travel. When Shilpa and Raj approached the Bombay High Court seeking to suspend the LOC, the court instructed them to either deposit Rs 60 crore or provide a bank guarantee.
