What is the story about?

Kriti Sanon is among the leading actresses in the film industry today. She has consistently delivered remarkable performances that showcase her significant
talent and adaptability. From playing a robot in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya to taking on the role of an air hostess in the eagerly awaited Crew, Kriti has demonstrated her ability to transition effortlessly between varied characters. Her most recent appearance was in Do Patti, where she starred alongside Kajol, tackling a demanding dual role as contrasting characters and highlighting her skill in adding depth and complexity to her portrayals. She has always been outspoken about her views and concerns, and at a recent event, Sanon expressed her admiration for Alia Bhatt.
Kriti Sanon Praises Alia Bhatt
During CNN-News18’s SheSakti 2025, National Award recipient Kriti Sanon praised Alia Bhatt and discussed the necessity for producers and directors to invest more in female leads for major films and impactful narratives. She remarked, "Take a chance on the story, not just on who’s in the lead role. If a film is female-led… the only one that truly stands out to me, honestly, that has been produced at that scale and budget, was Gangubai Kathiawadi. It felt larger than life. The film would have had the same essence even if a male actor was in the lead."
Additionally, she stated, "I felt that the budget, the cinematography, everything was executed in a grand manner. When someone makes an entrance, we refer to it as a ‘hero shot’ — where a character is portrayed as larger than life. That’s not typically the case when a woman is at the forefront of such a film. So I was extremely pleased to witness that. At least someone had the courage to invest that much in a female-led project."
For those who may not know, Kriti and Alia received the National Award together, for Mimi and Gangubai Kathiawadi, respectively.
Kriti Discusses Women in Bollywood
Regarding women making strides in the film industry, Kriti shared, "You must truly be passionate about it, and there are no shortcuts. Nothing comes easily; there are no free rides. You have to put in the effort, and it’s also crucial not to lose hope, especially when you don’t have a film background, as no one will hand you anything."
"Many will tell you why your dreams are too ambitious, why they are unattainable, why you need connections, or what’s wrong with you — you’re too short, too tall, too thin, not fit enough, and so on. I believe people will point out your flaws, but very few will encourage you to believe in yourself. Therefore, you must be incredibly driven, passionate, and patient, as success will come at the right moment, but you need to keep improving yourself," Sanon concluded.
On the professional front, the actress is set to star alongside Dhanush in Anand L. Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, which is slated for release on November 28, 2025.
