Actress Sridevi Vijayakumar, who is poised to make her return to the big screen in the upcoming Telugu film Sundarakanda directed by Venkatesh Nimmalapudi,
alongside Nara Rohit, recently shared insights about her relationship with Prabhas. She mentioned that even though Prabhas has evolved into a prominent pan-Indian star, their friendship has remained intact throughout the years. For those who may not know, Sridevi starred as the lead in Prabhas’s debut film Eeswar, which was helmed by Jayanth C Paranjee. Although she had previously acted in films as a child artist, Eeswar was her first role as a leading lady. During a press event for Sundarakanda, Sridevi was inquired about her camaraderie with Prabhas, to which she responded, "My friendship with Prabhas remains unchanged. He has become a major star now, but he is still the same person." Sridevi noted that Prabhas continues to smile and converse with the same childlike innocence, adding that everyone involved in her first film unit, Eeswar, sensed that Prabhas was destined for greatness. "We all believed he would rise to stardom even back during the time of Eeswar. During our success tour, we witnessed massive crowds. Prabhas has surpassed our expectations and become an even bigger star. It truly feels like a blessing." Reflecting on her return to the film industry with Sundarakanda, where she portrays one of the two leading ladies alongside Vriti Vaghani, Sridevi expressed, "I am thrilled to be back. Every actor aspires to portray a compelling character. It’s essential for any role to be strong. I am taking on a very significant character in this film. As an audience member, I found this movie to be quite impressive. The final product is remarkable, featuring fresh content that everyone can enjoy in theaters." The film, produced by Santosh Chinnapolla, Gautham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankali under the Sandeep Picture Palace (SPP) banner, is set to release on August 27. (With inputs from IANS)
