Awarapan 2 has made a significant impact at the box office, coinciding with a resurgence in Emraan Hashmi's career. Released to much anticipation, the sequel
to the cult classic has set new records for the actor, marking the biggest opening of his career as a lead. The film's success is underscored by its impressive advance bookings, which grossed over ₹8 crore, paving the way for a record-breaking debut on its release day. On its opening day, Awarapan 2 grossed ₹22 crore net (₹26.20 crore gross) in India and achieved a worldwide total of ₹28 crore. The film particularly resonated with audiences in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where it recorded occupancy rates of up to 90% for Friday night shows. The momentum continued into Saturday, with domestic collections surging by 50% to net ₹33.75 crore, bringing the film's total to ₹55.75 crore net (₹67 crore gross) in India. While Awarapan 2's performance overseas was modest, generating over $650,000 from select markets in the Middle East and North America, its overall worldwide earnings have exceeded ₹73 crore within just two days. This remarkable start highlights the film's appeal and the growing popularity of Emraan Hashmi as a leading actor. The film's success is further illustrated by its rapid ascent in the rankings of Emraan Hashmi's films. Awarapan 2 surpassed the lifetime collection of its predecessor, which stood at ₹13 crore, in less than a day. By the end of its second day, it had already outperformed several of Hashmi's previous hits, including Jannat 2 (₹66 crore) and Murder 2 (₹70 crore). Currently, only Raaz 3 (₹102 crore) remains ahead, but Awarapan 2 is on track to surpass this figure by Sunday evening. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 features Emraan Hashmi reprising his iconic role as Shivam Pandit, alongside co-stars Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani, and Suvinder Vicky. The film has received mixed to positive reviews, with particular acclaim for Hashmi's performance and the film's overall tone. Despite facing competition from Batwara 1947 at the box office, Awarapan 2 has emerged as the clear winner, solidifying its place in the current cinematic landscape.
