Ashneer Grover, who is presently leading Rise And Fall, is making waves with his frank observations regarding reality shows and their format in India.
Renowned for his forthright demeanor, Grover expressed his views on the core of reality television, emphasizing that the focus should be on the participants rather than merely on prominent figures. During this discussion, he appeared to take a jab at Salman Khan!
Ashneer emphasizes that contestants matter more than weekend superstars
In an interview with Showsha, Ashneer remarked, "Reality shows should center around the contestants. Luckily or unluckily, in India, we have had a major show featuring a significant superstar. Consequently, it has shifted the focus more onto him than the participants, right? But the reality is, who is dedicating the time? Bhai, you are just showing up for a weekend. The ones who are putting in the 24 hours are the contestants."
Although Grover refrained from naming anyone directly, this could be a subtle reference to Bigg Boss 19, which has been closely linked with the prominent presence of superstar Salman Khan and his 'Weekend Ka Vaar'. He further emphasized that the 'balance of power' in these shows needs to revert to those residing in the house and generating authentic content. He elaborated, “The balance of power must return to the contestants and the content that emerges from them, rather than being dominated by someone who just appears on the weekend."

Ashneer states there’s no 'taboo' linked to Rise And Fall
Ashneer pointed out how Rise And Fall is challenging the norms regarding who can take part in reality television. "In this show, I believe what viewers will find intriguing is the caliber of contestants we have. Kyunki koi taboo nahin hai. In other shows, many people feel that they cannot become contestants. Because in their view, being a contestant means you are at a certain stage in life or experiencing a mid-life crisis, or you need something, which is why you are participating."
Describing this as the most significant distinction, Grover added, "We have a blank canvas, right? We have an absolutely blank canvas, and thus we can attract very, very strong contestants, and I believe that will be the key differentiator."
Rise And Fall, the program Grover is hosting, has already started to gain popularity for its innovative format. It unites 16 competitors in a split mansion, where some take on temporary leadership roles while others strive to ascend the ranks. With constant twists and changes in power dynamics, the competition guarantees unpredictability and genuine drama.
