Aamir Khan made a spectacular entrance alongside Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. While this catapulted him to instant fame and opened numerous doors, the filmmakers
he truly wished to collaborate with did not reach out to him. He reminisced about committing to 8–9 projects, feeling pressured as other actors were signing on for 30–40. However, as production commenced, he understood that he wasn't suited for managing several films at once. Aamir Khan Recalls Career Going 'Down The Drain' During the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2025, he reflected on that challenging period, stating, “I came to realize within the first 6-8 months of working on these films that three elements are essential in every project: the script, the director, and the producer. Until these three are confirmed, I decided I wouldn't take on another film. I was quite dissatisfied with the work I was involved in. In the initial years of my acting career, following QSQT, I was not pleased with the projects. My artistic vision did not align with those I was collaborating with. To summarize, these films eventually premiered, and they all flopped. Ek flop hui, dusri flop hui, teesri flop hui (One flopped, then another flopped, then a third one too). I earned the label of ‘one film wonder,’ and justifiably so.” Aamir remarked, “Those 3-4 films that failed placed me in a tough spot, and the other 5-6 films I was involved with… I was aware of their poor quality! I thought, ‘I am doomed! My career is heading for disaster!’ I would return home in the evenings and weep. I promised myself that I would never again settle for less in my work.” Mr. Perfectionist was last featured in Sitaare Zameen Par. He is set to appear next in a biopic about Dadasaheb Phalke and a superhero movie directed by Lokesh Kanagraj.
