The Delhi High Court has delivered an official notice to Salman Khan in response to a request from a China-based AI voice synthesis company that is contesting
a court ruling safeguarding the actor's personality rights. This legal matter revolves around a temporary injunction issued on December 11, which forbids the unauthorized use of Salman's name, likeness, and voice across digital media and commercial platforms. The AI company is seeking to have this order overturned, contending that the limitations hinder its legitimate business of developing voice models. The High Court has instructed Salman Khan to provide a response within four weeks, with the next court session set for February 27.
Salman Khan Approached High Court For Protection Of Personality Rights
The situation began when Salman requested legal action to safeguard his personality and publicity rights due to the rising misuse of his identity on the internet. On December 11, 2025, the Delhi High Court issued a temporary injunction in his favor, mandating social media platforms and other entities to eliminate or limit content that exploited his identity without authorization.
This ruling was intended to address issues related to deepfake content, AI-generated voices, fraudulent endorsements, and unauthorized merchandise that capitalizes on his popularity.
All About Chinese Firm's Plea
In its latest motion, the China-based AI voice generation company has requested the court to lift this temporary injunction. The firm asserts that creating synthetic voices is a core aspect of its services, and the existing restrictions significantly impede its business operations.
It seeks to have the December ruling annulled to proceed with its activities without legal obstacles. The High Court has acknowledged the request and has notified Salman Khan, asking for his comprehensive response. The case will be revisited on February 27.
As generative AI technologies that can replicate voices and appearances become more prevalent, the issue of how personality rights are enforced in the digital era is increasingly being addressed in Indian courts. In addition to Salman, numerous other celebrities, including Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and others, have also sought legal recourse for similar concerns.
