After being mostly out of the limelight for almost four years,Justin Bieber is poised to make a significant return with a live performance at the Grammy
Awards 2026. Set for this Sunday, this appearance marks Bieber’s first major televised performance since 2022, quickly becoming one of the most eagerly awaited highlights of the event. For his fans, this comeback holds particular importance due to the singer’s extended hiatus from touring and public appearances following serious health issues.
Justin Bieber to perform at Grammys after lengthy hiatus
The Recording Academy announced Bieber’s performance earlier this week, confirming that he is also among this year’s leading nominees. He is vying for Album of the Year for Swag, his first studio album since 2021’s Justice. Additionally, he has received nominations for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best R&B Performance, highlighting a robust return to his craft after a period of uncertainty in his career.
Swag represents a fresh start for Bieber. The album, released after a significant break, showcases a more reflective stage of his artistry. While it carries the title Swag, it serves more as entries from Justin's journal. Although the singer has steered clear of large performances during these years, his social media updates provided glimpses into this quieter chapter—featuring studio sessions, moments with his wife Hailey, and time spent with his young son.
What prompted Justin's break?
Bieber’s break from public performances began in 2022, when his Justice World Tour encountered multiple interruptions. In June of that year, he disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that resulted in partial facial paralysis. This diagnosis compelled him to postpone several shows as he concentrated on treatment and recovery. Despite efforts to restart the tour later that year, the pressure proved overwhelming.
By September 2022, Bieber officially cancelled the remaining segments of the Justice tour, including the shows in Asia. This led to the cancellation of numerous high-profile international concerts, including his highly anticipated performance in India. Justin Bieber was set to take the stage in New Delhi on October 18, 2022, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, but the event was scrapped due to his health issues. In addition to India, tour stops in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Bahrain, the UAE, and Israel were also cancelled, leaving fans around the globe disappointed.
In 2023, Bieber and his team confirmed that the Justice tour would not be resuming, effectively marking a halt in his touring career. Since then, the artist has refrained from committing to live performances, opting instead to focus on recovery, family life, and reconnecting with music at his own pace.
His upcoming performance at the Grammys 2026 now indicates a careful yet assured return. Rather than announcing a full tour, Bieber’s appearance on the Grammy stage suggests he is gradually re-entering the realm of public performance. This news is sure to delight all the Beliebers.
