Priyanka Chopra is portraying Ercell Bodden, a pirate, in The Bluff, alongside Karl Urban. This R-rated adventure, directed by Frank Ewen Flowers Jr, is set
to premiere on Prime Video starting February 25, according to a recent report from Esquire. The initial glimpses of Priyanka and Karl’s roles have been released, and they look ‘bloody’ impressive! Taking place in the late 19th century, the film follows Ercell Bodden, who faces an attack from her old crew after abandoning them years prior. Once known as ‘Bloody Mary’, she now enjoys a tranquil life as a mother on the Cayman Islands. In a recent interview, Priyanka discussed her approach to preparing for her character.

In her conversation with Esquire, Priyanka remarked, “I was unaware of the existence of female pirates. I had no idea that women actually commanded their own ships during a time when piracy—true piracy—was far from the Disney portrayal. It was terrifying, it was violent, it was ruthless.”
Praising the actress, director Frank stated, “And for Priyanka to showcase her strength as a mother and a genuine modern-day superhero. She possesses an extraordinary work ethic, yet she can also fight fiercely. She’s a force to be reckoned with.”
He continued, “In the fight choreography, we decided, ‘Let’s ground everything in reality. She needs to fight dirty. She has to use a conch shell to take down a strong pirate. She must get gritty, messy, and bloody with it. So much of that influenced how the film turned out.”

Earlier, Priyanka posted images from the set of The Bluff. Her injuries raised concerns among fans. She captioned, “Bloody fun times on #TheBluff Last week of filming! PS: just to clarify for those who don’t know, I’m on a film set and it’s all makeup. The 1800s on pirate ships were brutal! It’s amazing to witness how every department on a crew transforms imagination into reality.”
