During a conversation with Puja Talwar, R Madhavan expressed that the team anticipated some backlash prior to the film’s debut. He remarked, “From the outset, I was aware that this would have societal implications. There would inevitably be individuals who would initially rate it poorly.” The actor reminisced about how films like Rang De Basanti and 3 Idiots also faced harsh criticism from reviewers. He referred to it as ‘premature criticism’, since both films eventually became significant successes at the box office.
R Madhavan noted that early negative critics often become insignificant once the audience begins to embrace the film. He stated, “Those who gave it two stars have become inconsequential. We are still part of the industry. I’m not saying this out of malice; you’re simply missing the essence. It’s time to progress.” Madhavan remained undeterred by the backlash for Dhurandhar, recalling similar experiences with his film, Rang De Basanti.

You haven’t witnessed the conclusion yet.”
