
A gathering of Bollywood luminaries is set to inaugurate the newest edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025, taking place from August
14 to 24. Dangal star Aamir Khan was spotted at the festival alongside his partner, Gauri Spratt. Other notable figures from Bollywood in attendance included actor-comedian Vir Das, Tillotama Shome with her Baksho Bondi director, Tanushree Das; actors Jim Sarbh and Aditi Rao Hydari; filmmakers Shoojit Sircar, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and RS Prasanna; as well as casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
Bollywood celebrities at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025 press event
The stars and filmmakers from Bollywood also convened for a press event. A variety of activities are scheduled for the ten-day festival, including a flag-raising ceremony for Independence Day, a dance contest, and a retrospective on Aamir Khan, along with tributes to the centenaries of filmmakers Guru Dutt and Ritwik Ghatak. Baksho Bondi will kick off the festival, while Homebound, featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, will conclude the event on August 24.
In a statement, Aamir Khan expressed, “It’s wonderful to be in Melbourne. I’m thrilled to participate in the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It’s a remarkable initiative that unites people and cultures through cinema. I’m confident that the films and filmmakers featured at the festival will have an enriching experience.”
