What is the story about?
Border 2 hits theaters globally tomorrow (January 23). Starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, this film directed by Anurag
Singh draws inspiration from the 1971 Operation Chengiz. Crafted on an impressive scale with top-tier actors receiving substantial pay, the budget for this war drama reflects the commitment and hard work of the team to create a memorable cinematic experience. Border 2’s advance ticket sales suggest a promising opening day at the box office. It has the potential to become Sunny’s most successful opener in recent years. Lavishly produced for a grand viewing experience, Border 2 must achieve remarkable box office results to recoup its expenses.
Border 2 budget
As per reports, the estimated budget for Border 2 is around Rs 300 crore. It is said that Sunny is the highest-paid actor, earning Rs 50 crore. Varun's compensation is reported to be between Rs 8 to 10 crore, while Diljit’s fee is estimated at Rs 4 to 5 crore. The salaries for Ahan, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and Paramvir Cheema have not yet been disclosed.
What revenue does Border 2 need to be a blockbuster?
Border 2, produced with a budget of Rs 300 crore, must generate at least Rs 600 to be considered a profitable project. Earnings exceeding Rs 650 would classify the film as commercially successful and a box office hit. If the current trends persist, reaching this target should be achievable for Border 2.
Overview of Border 2
Border 2 is expected to unveil untold tales of real-life heroes from the 1971 Indo-Pak Operation Chengiz. The film is set to premiere in theaters on January 23. However, it will not be released in Gulf nations, as per the latest updates. It has been prohibited in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Indian films featuring strong 'anti-Pakistan' themes have faced challenges in the Middle Eastern region. Prior to Border 2, Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar also did not manage to secure a release.
In Border 2, Sunny and Varun portray army personnel, Diljit plays an Air Force Officer, while Ahan takes on the role of a Naval Officer. Operation Chengiz Khan was the codename for the preemptive strikes executed by the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) against the Indian Air Force (IAF) bases and radar systems on the evening of December 3, 1971.
