In an interview with Indian Express, Renuka Shahane remarked, "He had already gained fame as a TV star after Fauji. The level of admiration I witnessed for him during the Circus shoot was astonishing. We were taken aback. At that point, he had no desire to enter the film industry. He was quite content with television.”

She also noted that he had no aspirations to become a film actor, stating, "People would suggest that he should pursue a film career, but Shah Rukh Khan insisted that theatre and television were where he belonged. It was only later that he ventured into the industry, perhaps because his mother was very eager for her son to become a film star. And wow, what an incredible film star he has turned out to be.”
