Awarapan 2, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi, is making waves at the Indian box office, capitalizing on a strong sense of nostalgia.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has garnered an impressive response nationwide. On its opening day, which coincided with Independence Day, Awarapan 2 grossed over 30 crore net, and as it enters its third day, expectations remain high for continued success, albeit with a slight anticipated drop in collections. The film's show count has seen a significant increase due to high audience demand. It opened with 9,122 shows on its first day, and this number rose to 11,576 by the second day. For its third day, an additional 26 shows have been added, bringing the total to 11,602. This surge in showings indicates a robust interest in the film, setting the stage for a strong performance at the box office. On Independence Day, Awarapan 2 achieved a remarkable milestone with advance bookings totaling 11.18 crore gross. Although advance ticket sales dipped slightly to 10 crore gross for day three, this figure still represents a 16.68% increase compared to the first day's bookings of 8.57 crore. The expected drop of 10.55% in advance sales is attributed to the film's release following a major national holiday. As Awarapan 2 approaches its first Sunday, it is projected to reach a net collection of around 30 crore, despite a likely decrease from the previous day's earnings of 34.09 crore. The decline in night occupancy is anticipated due to the return to a regular workweek, although there remains potential for surprise performances in the afternoon and evening shows. With the opening weekend expected to approach 90 crore net, Awarapan 2 is poised to be a significant hit, especially considering its production budget of 45 crore. As the film continues to draw audiences, industry watchers are keenly observing its performance as it heads into its fourth day.
