As per IMDb’s Most Anticipated Indian Movies of 2026, King holds the top spot. In response, Siddharth shared on his Instagram Story, “Wow! A little extra motivation never hurts (sic).” According to the site, ‘among the Indian films scheduled for release in 2026, these titles were consistently the most favored by IMDb users, based on the actual page views from over 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb globally.’
Shah Rukh Khan discusses King
On his 60th birthday, November 2, 2025, Shah Rukh engaged with his fans at an event and shared insights about King. The actor remarked, “I believe if we don’t introduce something intriguing within the film, the hero will just appear, sing a couple of songs, engage in a few fights, and then leave. The character of King is incredibly fascinating. Siddharth and Sujoy have crafted it with great care. It has many flaws. He’s a killer, takes lives without even asking, ‘how many were there, never asked.’ I think for storytelling, and not just because youngsters watch films, it’s crucial for heroes like me to take on diverse roles. Some should be inspiring, some aspirational, some comedic, and some romantic. So that’s what I’m trying to do now, in a year or two, I want to be part of a significant film, because I also understand that making films has become a bit more challenging. We need to be very careful to ensure we don’t disappoint you.”
He continued, “So, not to label it as purely a villain role... Yes, he’s a very dark character. A very grey character. And I think it will be quite intriguing. He’s very ruthless. So all these lines within it, I believe, reflect that character, convey it. So yes, I hope you all enjoy it. This doesn’t mean that what he does is something you should emulate.” He further added, “So it’s not that I’m just playing a villain, or merely negative. This role is quite good and very interesting. So the film, as Sid has envisioned, is very engaging and on a grand scale. I hope you appreciate just the character.”
Alongside Shah Rukh and Suhana, King features Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma.
