```htmlIt seems that the long-awaited Hindi version of The Intern has encountered yet another development. As reported by Mid-Day, Deepika Padukone, who
was initially slated to feature in the film alongside Amitabh Bachchan, has opted to withdraw from the acting role but will continue as a producer. This adaptation, inspired by the 2015 hit starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, was first revealed in 2020 under Padukone’s KA Productions.
Deepika to focus solely on producing The Intern
Originally, the prominent role was intended for Rishi Kapoor, but his unexpected demise left the film without a lead until Amitabh Bachchan took over. Despite the involvement of high-profile names and significant studio support, the project faced challenges in getting off the ground due to various reasons, including the pandemic, changing schedules, and Padukone’s maternity leave.
Now, after five years of uncertainty, the actress is making a calculated decision to finally move the film forward. A source informed Mid-Day, “This time, Deepika will refrain from acting in the film and will focus exclusively on her role as a producer, managing the creative and logistical revival. A new actress is being sought to fill the role she was previously set to play.”
