YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, recognized for his insights on social and political matters, released a provocative video asserting he would “take down” Bollywood’s
“Rs 300 crore propaganda” Dhurandhar. Criticizing the Aditya Dhar–Ranveer Singh film as “vahiyat,” he challenged its depiction of events inspired by reality, claiming that the dramatized storyline attempts too earnestly to be seen as authentic. Rathee described the film as a “skillfully crafted propaganda piece.” While the filmmakers have chosen to remain silent, actor Naveen Kaushik, who portrays Donga in the movie, has responded to the trending video. 'Dhruv Rathee's Dhurandhar Review Got Views Because Of Us' Ranveer's co-star remarked to Screen, “He has strong opinions. I’m part of the film, and I obviously don’t share his views.” “He gained some attention because of us, so congratulations to him,” he continued. Dhruv Rathee's Dhurandhar Review In his video, the YouTuber allegedly stated, “Skillfully crafted propaganda poses a greater threat. Movies like The Taj Story and The Bengal Films weren’t harmful, kyunki wo bakwaas films thi (because they were poor films). However, Dhurandhar is a captivating film.” He further explained, “The issue is that Dhurandhar consistently indicates it’s based on actual events. This is evident in the trailer. It incorporates real footage from the 26/11 attacks. Authentic audio recordings of exchanges between the terrorists and their handlers have been utilized. It also features real-life gangsters and police from Pakistan’s Lyari.” For those unfamiliar, the film narrates the story of an Indian spy who infiltrates Karachi, Pakistan, to penetrate terrorist organizations and collect intelligence. The movie includes various characters inspired by real individuals, from India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to the notorious gangster Rehman Baloch and ISI chief Major Iqbal. Directed, penned, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, the film also features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Akshaye Khanna.
