Karan Johar recently opened up about his experiences with travel anxiety in an honest social media update. He described his tendency to arrive at the airport
far too early, his habit of repeatedly checking his boarding pass, and his vigilance regarding turbulence, sharing the amusing and relatable aspects of his travel routines. Although he referred to it as a “champagne problem,” many recognized their own travel idiosyncrasies in his remarks. Karan Johar Talks About Dealing With 'Travel Trauma' The post included a note that stated, "Not that it matters, feel free to mock me…. What I’m about to share might be seen as a champagne problem, but I believe many will relate." KJo expressed: "Raise your hands if you experience travel anxiety! First off, I have an overwhelming urge to arrive at the airport early (before the staff even show up). Then, while in the lounge, I check my passport and boarding pass repeatedly... And once I’m seated, I anxiously await the pilot’s announcement regarding the flight duration... As if my life hinges on it." He mentioned that he nervously anticipates the pilot’s weather update for the journey, feeling at ease if it’s a “smooth ride,” but remaining tense throughout the flight if there are expected “few bumps along the way.” He added, "Then I find myself checking the flight map every 10 minutes on a short flight. On a long journey, I take a pill and hope for sleep (my subconscious is always aware of turbulence). I also feel an overwhelming need to be excessively polite to the flight attendants (in case of an emergency, they might be nicer to the nice), so I smile like I’m in a toothpaste commercial! And I express gratitude at every opportunity... Then, an hour before landing, I’m all set (not at all prepared for any circling or air traffic)... then I rush out and try to pass every other passenger as if it’s a limbo contest (for no particular reason). Alright, that’s all (there are some packing quirks, but that’s a topic for another time)… #traveltrauma"
Actors Kiara Advani, Varun Dhawan and others appreciated the post. Meanwhile, internet users flocked to the comments section to share their own strategies for dealing with travel anxiety.
