Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's iconic film Lagaan recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a star-studded event in Mumbai. The celebration attracted
numerous luminaries from the film industry, including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Javed Akhtar, Kajol, and Juhi Chawla. The evening was marked by a nostalgic atmosphere, particularly highlighted by the playful banter between Kajol and Juhi as they humorously roasted Aamir, reminiscent of their camaraderie from their earlier film, Ishq. During the festivities, Kajol and Juhi were invited to share their thoughts about Aamir. They seized the opportunity to engage in light-hearted teasing. Kajol remarked, “One thing we can say about Aamir Khan is that his production has definitely proved he has great taste in movies, irrevocably good taste. Starting with Lagaan and continuing forward — and great taste in women as well.” Aamir, visibly amused and slightly bashful, laughed at Kajol's cheeky comment. Juhi chimed in, saying, “I don't have just one word but a lot more for Aamir. If I start, I can take over the evening.” The audience relished the playful exchange, with many fans taking to social media to express their delight. Comments ranged from affirmations of Kajol's quip about Aamir's taste in women to nostalgic reflections on the chemistry between Kajol and Juhi. One user noted, “Wow, Ishq vibes returning,” while another remarked on the fun dynamic of the evening, highlighting the enduring friendship among the trio. Kajol's humorous remarks come at a time when Aamir's personal life has garnered attention once again. The actor, who was previously married to Reena Dutta and shares two children with her, later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. Although they announced their separation in 2021, they continue to co-parent their son, Azad. Recent reports indicate that Aamir is preparing to marry his partner, Gauri Spratt, in a private ceremony scheduled for July 5. As part of the silver jubilee celebrations, Lagaan is set to return to theaters with a special re-release, accompanied by a newly unveiled trailer. Released in 2001, Lagaan is celebrated as a landmark in Indian cinema, achieving both critical acclaim and commercial success. The film not only earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film but also won multiple accolades at the 49th National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
