What is the story about?
The devotional film Hanuman Ansh has achieved a significant box office milestone, crossing the ₹400 crore mark in worldwide gross earnings. Despite a modest
beginning, the film has maintained a consistent performance in theatres for eight weeks, solidifying its status as a notable success in the current Indian cinematic landscape. Following a successful eighth weekend, the film’s domestic net collection in India has reached ₹307 crore, with its total domestic gross standing at ₹362 crore after 52 days. The production, which was made on a reported budget of ₹2 crore, has demonstrated a rare trajectory of sustained growth, continuing to draw audiences long after its initial release.
A Remarkable Box Office Trajectory
The journey of Hanuman Ansh to this financial milestone was unconventional. Initially, the film experienced a slow start, with early reports suggesting limited traction during its first two weeks. However, the project gained significant momentum through positive audience reception, which translated into a consistent increase in ticket sales. Since the fourth week of its release, the film has maintained a steady pace, consistently earning over ₹60 crore net per week at the domestic box office. The most recent weekend saw the film earn ₹18.95 crore net, bolstered by a Sunday collection of ₹9 crore. This performance allowed the film to surpass the ₹300-crore net mark domestically, a threshold achieved by fewer than 25 Indian films. Internationally, the film saw a delayed release, arriving in overseas markets six weeks after its Indian debut. Since then, it has accumulated over $4 million, contributing to a total worldwide gross of ₹402 crore.
Surpassing Established Cinematic Benchmarks
With its continued performance, Hanuman Ansh has entered the list of the top 50 highest-grossing Indian films of all time. In recent days, the film surpassed the lifetime global earnings of several prominent titles, including Krrish 3, which grossed ₹393 crore, and Chennai Express, which earned ₹392 crore. Furthermore, it has moved past the lifetime totals of 3 Idiots and Kantara, both of which held figures around the ₹400 crore to ₹401 crore range.Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film tells the story of Lakshminarayan, a young man who embarks on a spiritual journey across North India following the death of his mother, eventually becoming the saint Neem Karoli Baba. The cast features Shobhinaw Satyaa in the lead role, supported by Vihaan Shedge, Chandan K Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey, and Bhagvandas Patel. Given its current momentum, the film continues to track toward further milestones as it remains in theatres.
