Anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic, Ramayana Part One, is translating into robust early ticket sales. With the film’s release date approaching,
advance bookings have already surpassed the ₹8.72 crore mark in India. Since opening on Dussehra, fifteen days prior to the premiere, the project has seen a steady increase in momentum, with nearly 200,000 tickets sold across various formats. While the Hindi version currently dominates the pre-sales, accounting for approximately 87% of the total revenue, regional interest is beginning to climb. The Kannada version, now available in roughly 100 screens, is approaching the ₹1 crore milestone, with some locations reporting occupancy rates as high as 72% for morning screenings. Telugu-language bookings have also commenced, with additional regional versions expected to roll out as the release date draws nearer.
IMAX Formats Lead Ticket Sales Despite Premium Pricing
A significant trend in the film's early performance is the high demand for premium large-format screenings. Despite IMAX and 4DX shows representing only a small fraction of the total available screenings, they have contributed disproportionately to the total earnings. Data indicates that IMAX screenings alone account for nearly 25% of the total pre-sales revenue. The demand for these premium experiences remains high even with a significant price disparity. While regular screenings carry an average ticket price of ₹380, IMAX tickets are averaging ₹1095. Despite this, IMAX venues have seen an average of 170 tickets sold per screening, a rate nearly five times higher than that of standard cinema halls. Other premium formats, including 4DX, ICE, and Dolby Cinema, have also collectively moved over 12,000 tickets.
