in the series, which will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Following the official announcement of Tomb Raider, Sophie recently shared insights about her health challenges. During an interview, the actress discussed how she discovered a chronic health issue while preparing intensively for the role. She also noted that it took her several months to regain her fitness.
Sophie Turner on chronic health condition
On The Julia Cunningham Show, Sophie disclosed that a year of rigorous training for Tomb Raider led her to uncover a persistent physical issue. "We’ve been training eight hours a day, five days a week since February of last year," she explained.
Sophie continued, "I’ve found out that I have a chronic back issue, but I also realized that building muscle is much simpler if you’ve had any prior workout experience, which I hadn’t, so it has taken me a long time to get into shape. That’s what I’ve come to understand."
In addition to talking about her upcoming series, the actress reminded her fans that she was seldom involved in high-energy stunts during her time on Game of Thrones. "I was usually the one getting hurt, not the one dishing it out. So it’s quite enjoyable to learn how to throw a punch instead of just receiving them!," said Sophie, who portrayed Sansa Stark.
