What is the story about?
Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s crowning achievement, Ramayana: The Introduction, is set to premiere on Diwali 2026. Following the reveal of the title and logo,
along with a sneak peek of the main cast, the production team is now preparing to launch the first look poster. The preparations are in full effect, and viewers should get ready for a stunning visual experience. Inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari has reimagined it for contemporary audiences. The initial poster, featuring Ranbir and Yash as Ram and Ravana, is anticipated to be released in March 2026. This holds great importance for the film.
Ramayana first poster
Ramayana will depict the legendary confrontation between Ram and Ravana in Lanka after the latter kidnaps Sita from the forest during her 14-year exile. In honor of Raghava's birth on Ram Navami 2026, the team intends to reveal the first poster in March. Ram Navami will be celebrated on March 27 this year. A Ramayana: The Introduction’s title announcement video was shared on July 3.
Ramayana cast
In Ramayana: The Introduction, Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Goddess Sita. Yash is making his debut in Bollywood as Ravana. Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman, Ravi Dubey is set to portray Lakshman, and Lara Dutta will be seen as Kaikeyi. Reports suggest that Rakul Preet Singh has been cast as Surpanakha. Additionally, Arun Govil is set to play King Dashrath, Vivek will take on the role of Vidyutjihva, Kunal Kapoor is cast as Lord Indra, Adinath Kothare will appear as Bharat, and Mohit Raina will reprise his role as Lord Shiva.
About Ramayana
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana: The Introduction is scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, with the second installment following on Diwali 2027. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is making his Bollywood debut alongside A.R. Rahman, crafting the film's score. The action scenes are being designed by Guy Norris, renowned for his work on Mad Max: Fury Road.
