Sanjay Leela Bhansali takes his time crafting films. His approach, which embraces opulence, magnificence, and cinematic excellence, makes his masterpieces
worth the anticipation. Following the critical and commercial triumph of Gangubai Kathiawadi, he collaborates once again with Alia Bhatt for Love And War. This historical romance also features Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in leading roles. Initially set to premiere on March 20, 2026, the filming has yet to be completed. With ongoing delays and no confirmed release date, there were speculations that Sanjay and Ranbir had a disagreement on set regarding creative differences. However, dismissing these rumors, the actor and Alia were seen visiting Bhansali’s office in Mumbai shortly after returning from their yearly getaway.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visit Sanjay Leela Bhansali
On Thursday (January 7), Ranbir and Alia were seen outside Sanjay’s office in the city. Choreographer Ganesh Acharya was also present with them. As the film's production progresses, this meeting suggests that a large-scale dance sequence is being developed behind the scenes. Only an official statement can verify this news.
Rumors of a fallout
According to initial reports, Ranbir was requested to reshoot several scenes. However, the extended filming schedule conflicted with his other obligations, particularly with Ramayana: The Introduction. The producers of the mythological film were allegedly unhappy with the delays in Love And War. The historical romantic movie is now anticipated to debut in the latter half of the year, leaving little time between the theatrical releases of both eagerly awaited films.
A report from Mid-Day subsequently refuted the fallout rumors, with a source close to the production confirming that Bhansali is on schedule for a release this year. It is said that filming will conclude by March 2026. The team is targeting an Independence Day 2026 release, which may lead to Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla being postponed to a later date.
Upcoming films of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt
While Love And War is currently in production, Ranbir has Ramayana: The Introduction set to release on Diwali 2026. Alia will star in the first female-led spy thriller produced by YRF, titled Alpha, alongside Sharvari.
