Malavika Mohanan Criticized For 'Mocking' Fellow Actresses, What Did The Raja Saab Star Say? Controversy Clarified
In a conversation with Galatta, Malavika expressed, “For quite some time, I have been aware of a few actresses who don’t even bother to look at the script; they simply do 1-2-3-4. So in this scene, you’re supposed to be sad, and you’re just saying 1-2-3-4, with the corresponding expression. Eventually, they will synchronize their lip movements with the dialogue.” Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who was also part of the discussion, was seen chuckling at her explanation. However, many viewers were displeased with her comments regarding the industry.
Numerous viewers urged Malavika Mohanan to reflect on her own performances,, while others advised her against ridiculing fellow actresses. Some suggested she should concentrate on her own photoshoots instead of critiquing the work of other actors. A segment of internet users defended her, claiming she has the right to express her opinions as a member of the audience.
One comment stated, "Everyone has the right as an audience to critique a product or a process regardless of their proficiency, right? So what’s the issue here?"
In response, a user on X remarked, "She’s still early in her career and should BE MINDFUL of her words!" Another added, "An audience can critique, but as an artist, if she keeps criticizing other actresses while knowing how poorly women are portrayed in our films, then she’s in the wrong. And if she can critique, people can also comment on her critiques, right? Nothing wrong with that."
A fan advised her to refrain from mocking others and to focus on her own career first: "Look at what this ‘National Award’ winning Malavika Mohanan says, Namake Nadipu Varaathu, Naama Mathavangala Pathi Pesalama."
Some users resonated with her viewpoint, stating, "What’s wrong with this? She is pointing out actual truths. Heroines like Kajal Agarwal, Tamanna, Hansika have never gotten lip-syncing right. They have been employing these methods for a long time."
