With Superman making such a powerful debut for the DC Universe, enthusiasts are buzzing with theories regarding the remainder of the legendary DC Trinity.
As a new cinematic universe takes shape, viewers are keen to find out when Batman and Wonder Woman will make their entrance into the franchise. Although DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has consistently stated that both heroes are included in his long-term vision, neither character has been officially cast yet. Nevertheless, speculation is rampant. In recent days, reports have surfaced indicating that actors are already auditioning for the roles of Batman and Wonder Woman, with hints that the two might even feature in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. However, Gunn was quick to refute these claims. In response to a fan on Threads, Gunn firmly rejected the rumors, stating, “All these rumors of Batman and Wonder Woman auditions are false.” He also indicated that DC Studios is not preparing for another significant casting announcement in the near future. To clarify further, Gunn noted, “The major news was Brainiac. Most other substantial roles are characters we’ve already encountered. Minor roles are being [cast] now.” According to him, the rumors may have originated from fragmented information being misinterpreted online. “We are currently casting a female character in MoT. My only guess is scoopers are taking a stab at guessing that’s WW,” Gunn added. Fans quickly began to speculate about the identity of this enigmatic character, with names like Starfire, Big Barda, and Jenny Sparks circulating - each of whom has ties to future DCU storylines. Despite Gunn’s strong denials, discussions about casting continue to thrive. Batman, in particular, has sparked a lengthy list of fan-favorite candidates, including People’s Sexiest Man Alive Jonathan Bailey, Brandon Sklenar, and even Smallville star Tom Welling. On the Wonder Woman side, Alexandra Daddario remains a favored option, while Melissa Barrera has also gained traction among fans as a potential choice.
