Stebin, in an interview with Galatta India, clarified that the interpretation was misleading. He explained, "My parents are very simple people. Whenever they see the media, they quietly move away because they feel that the media is there for me, not for them."He said that during the incident in question, his parents were unaware that they were being recorded and simply walked ahead after noticing the cameras. According to him, even Nupur tried to stop them, but they did not realise anyone was calling out to them. Stebin further dismissed the negative narrative around his family, stating that there is no issue between his mother and Nupur and that they share a warm bond. "People are saying Nupur got a dangerous mother-in-law, but it's exactly the opposite," he said and added that they often spend time together at home and even enjoy being on the same team during games.
